Save A Buck

Going to the movies can be quite expensive. Many great films are capturing our views lately and it's always good to save a buck while enjoying greatness. With Black Panther ranking as the number one film in theaters right now, it's safe to say that almost everyone and their mama has seen the film. Now, I can tell the tale of this week's tid-bit along with a story of Black Panther. As a movie fan, I knew from the moment previews were shown, Black Panther would be a hit! I was actually at the movie theater on a Tuesday in February, 2017. I watched "Get Out" starring Daniel Kaluuya.

Daniel Kaluuya also plays "W'Kabi" in Black Panther.

As I ate my popcorn (which is rare) I couldn't wait to go see this movie but, it would be a while before it came. I'm not a fan of over saturating myself with previews of movies I would like to go see. So for the rest of 2017, I remained untainted by anything Black Panther. I was confident the film would be spectacular. Not, just because of the all black cast (which is AMAZING) but, because of the way it was shot. For a film to survive a year with nothing but minimal previews is ground breaking. Confidence in their production left the story hidden until the release date.

I love seeing the story for myself not threw what they want us to see in the previews.

Trickling back to mentioning going to see "Get Out" on a Tuesday. That is a house rule and I stand by it. I don't go to the movies any other day other than Tuesday. When I found out each Tuesday was $5 in any Cinemark Theater, I ran with it! Don't have to tell me twice. It is also has another benefit of less crowds in the theater and you can also book ahead. The discount is already pro-rated in their systems. I've been doing this for years and will continue for years to come. I also buy my own snacks. Yes, yes Dollar Store vibes before the show. You have to resist the urge of going when things are in a hot demand. Relax, think about it, then decide. Many times patience reveals other avenues. In this case, I don't feel an urgency to rush to the movies immediately after hot release. Some movies aren't worth my $5 on Tuesday. I weigh my options and my last resort is waiting till they release it on Amazon Prime or premium channels.

Moral of the story
Go to the movies on Tuesday. Eat before going and buy a few snacks. My personal favorites are sour patches.
