Only The Beginning

It's not a surprise that Mary Norwood called for a recount moments after Keisha Lance Bottoms celebrated her win as the elected Mayor of Atlanta. Given Ms. Norwood's past and likely present, she's just salty! Take this "L" please and let the stars align. Although I don't live in the ATL, this mayoral race elected the second black female Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms. I appreciate the city of Atlanta through my visits there. As I followed the race from a far, it was great watching the lining stars for the city as the new Mayor takes office.

Selecting leadership is crucial and of importance to the survival of many things especially our freedom. It also has opened ours eyes to many hidden agendas in many communities where minorities live. Gentrification is also consuming low income neighborhoods and displacing community members. Let's not forget the continuing police brutality. I highly recommend doing your own research on each candidate before making a decision. Don't only look at their resume or smiles and pictures. Look at the character and behaviors of the candidates. Also, look at who they're affiliated with and whom they surround themselves around.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has experience working in both side of the city. She also began a career as a lawyer and excelled to then become a judge. Mayor Bottoms understands the limitations minorities have to accomplish their education, skills, and development. Raised as a single mother, Mayor Bottoms knows the opportunities needed to raise the youth into future innovators. Mayor Bottoms describes on her interview on "The Breakfast Club", she once sat in a court room along side her father's prosecutor and realized the path and tools needed for the coming generation to break the cycle of limitation. To me, this win shows the vision you can achieve when all odds are against you, when you're honest and never give up.

Remember: Don't stop and keep pushing. This is only the beginning.
