Tid-Bit Tuesday | Save Your Outfits

It's tid-bit Tuesday again here on ChittyChatBang! Most of us love fashion but hate spending that pretty penny on clothes each time there's an occasion. A rule of thumb I give myself is, if I can't re-wear or re-style an outfit another different day, then I didn't shop right. Shopping for clothes should be strategic then becomes natural. Here are some tips that can help you transform that 5 or 10 year old piece into a great outfit.
  • Take care of your clothes! Wash them well and carefully. Don't mix colors or become lazy when washing clothes. Use fabric softener and air dry pieces that don't need a lot of heat. This is number one because we often forget about many pieces in our closet and don't bother to keep them safe, clean and dust free.
  • Save money and time by organizing pieces you wore for years already versus then new gear. I tend to only shop for new clothes once I feel like my old pieces need a partner or I want to switch it up.
  • Level out your outfit by wearing old and new pieces. It really refreshes your look and your wallet. Never feel the need to have that new new all the time. It's cool that's why clothes are washable.
  • Always look for a DISCOUNT before checking out anywhere! This is an important gem. Saving that extra coin will really make or break that end result. I never feel satisfied if I don't use a discount code. ( I will post a blog about where to look for codes soon)
  • Don't buy clothes that will only be good for that one occasion. Find pieces you can wear multiple times and switch up with jeans, skirts, etc. This always works out in my favor.
  • Find the colors that work out for your skin tone. Identifying these colors will help you ease up on buying unnecessary items that you end up never wearing. My favorite color is white, but I also look good in peach, and blush tones.
  • Know your budget and shop accordingly. Stick to that budget and if you go over it, look at what you bought at home and try to put pieces together. If you cannot put anything together and feel confident about that item, RETURN IT. Don't waste your time saying, I'll save this for....take it back.
  • Know which stores carry your size and styles.
I hope these tips helped you and I am looking forward to Part-two next week. More about discounts, shopping on the right days and organizing.
